August 2008

August is always madness for us. It’s great riding weather and there are usually 3-4 events throughout the month that fills up the weekends. This year was no exception. We had the Windy 60, Trek World, The Corn Fest Bike Rally, and some other fun stuff.

Trek World is a great time every year. We get a sneak peek at all the new bikes and accessories from the whole Trek family. Trek has really done their homework this year and the 2009 product is really smart. We are excited to see more offerings catering to what I have started calling “everyday cyclists;” commuters, students, urbanites, etc. More fenders, more racks, etc. Here are a few of the highlights.

 2008 Corn Fest Bike Rally

After getting flooded out last year, it was refreshing to have an absolutely perfect day for the rally. We had a good turnout and a good ride. Extra special thanks to Hauser Ross Eye Institute, Eduardo’s, Rosita’s and DeKalb Police Dept for their donations and support.

New NCC T-shirts

These puppies are almost gone, and sizes are running short. Stop in today for yours.

Last year, the rally route was submerged beneath 5 ft of water in someplaces. We had considered making it a Cornfest Boat Rally, but there just wasn’t enough time.

This year, we’re hoping for a smooth ride. As always, we’re rallying at Lion’s Park at 10am on the Sunday of Cornfest, Aug 24th. Arrive a few minutes early for a free bike check and then at 10:15, we’ll roll out. Helmets are required. CFBR T-shirts will be for sale at the start. We have a great design this year, courtesy of Tony Harding. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 815.758.2403.
